Surprise in The U.S. Open Golf 2009

The U.S. Open Golf 2009 Leaderboard has a few surprises sitting at the top, and no Tiger in sight. The tournament continued Saturday morning with the second round after the rain held off Friday and allowed the golfers to finish their first rounds and start their second rounds. Currently Ricky Barnes lead the way at -8 under with Lucas Glover right behind him at -7. David Duval has played extremely well seeing as he hasn't sniffed the top of a leaderboard in a major in years. Duval is at -3 as he has already finished his second round play with an even par 70. Other notables include Phil Mickelson who finished his second round Even par and is at -1 for the tournament and Sergio Garcia who shot Even par in his second round and is at Even par for the tourney.

Tiger Woods sits 12 shots back before he even starts his second round, which he's set to tee off at 10:06 a.m. He fell apart on the last four holes of his first round as he had 2 bogeys and a double bogey after he had worked his way to Even par. He is at +4 and has some major work to do just to make the cut to play in the third and fourth rounds.

The TV schedule for today's coverage can be found here and you can watch online for free through the U.S. Open website. Today could be another adventure as far as weather is concerned as there is a weather system that will bring rain to Bethpage later this afternoon. It looks like all the players may be able to finish their second rounds but there's no way they will start the third round.

The U.S. Open is being played at the Black Course of the Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, NY. The U.S. Open homepage has flyovers and a description of how each hole plays.

TweetPsych is Analyzing your Twitter feed

DO you have narcissistic tendencies or an oral fixation? Do you focus more on celebs -- or on yourself?

You might have thought a tweet was just a tweet -- but a new site called TweetPsych (tweetpsych.com) is analyzing what your Twitter feed reveals about your personality.

The service builds psychological profiles by analyzing users' Twitter updates (using confusing techy things called linguistic analysis algorithms). The result displays attributes on which a person has scored higher than the average -- ranking characteristics and topics such as self-reference, positive emotions, work and religion.

It's easy to use: Just plug in a Twitter name (i.e., kirstiealley) It works best for users who have 1,000 or more tweets. In Alley's case, she talks about the future often and about herself a lot.

iPhone 3G unlock methods Video

The cat and mouse game will enter its next round as Apple will release iPhone 3.0 firmware later today. As usual, the iPhone-Dev team has been working ahead of time for iPhone 3G unlock methods. On Tuesday evening, MuscleNerd, a member of the iPhone-Dev, showed up live demo of carrier unlock working on the official iPhone 3.0 firmware. The new method of carrier unlock for iPhone 3G is code named ultrasn0w by iPhone-Dev team.

The basic aim of this unlock is to enable the use of iPhone 3G with any carrier and not restricting it to be locked to a single carrier. Back in December, the iPhone-Dev team showed its first version of iPhone 3G unlock through a method called yellowsn0w. Ultrasn0w is the new version of Yellowsn0w for the iPhone 3.0 firmware

Peugeots placed 1-2 in the 2009 24 Hours LeMans

There's no greater test of cars, drivers, teams, technologies ... and race fans.

Peugeot broke Audi's five-year domination at the 24 hours of LeMans this weekend, winning the overall victory of the world's most important sports car race for the first time for the French company in 16 years.

Marc Gene, David Brabham of Britain and Alexander Wurz of Austria completed 382 laps in 24 hours, one lap more than the second-place Peugeot No. 8 driven by French trio Sebastien Bourdais, Franck Montagny and Stephane Sarrazin.

Bourdais is best-known in the US as a former Indy Racing League champion and Indy 500 competitor. He was born and raised in the small town of LeMans near the Circuit Sarthe, the track which 77 times counting this year has combined public and purpose-built roads to create the legendary super-high speed racing venue.

Both the Peugeot and Audi LMP1-class cars, the fastest and most-exotic on the near-eight-mile long track, were powered by V12 turbodiesel engines producing some 600-horsepower in whisper-quiet, fuel-efficient fashion.

Yankees Victory over Mets

Alex Rodriguez slammed his bat and then threw it. The first Subway Series game at new Yankee Stadium was over.

And then it wasn't.

Second baseman Luis Castillo dropped A-Rod's lazy popup with two outs in the ninth inning as two runs scored, and the Yankees escaped with a wild 9-8 victory over the Mets on Friday night.

David Wright had put the Mets ahead 8-7 with an eighth-inning double off Mariano Rivera (1-2), and Francisco Rodriguez (1-1) appeared to escape a ninth-inning jam on the popup by A-Rod, just 1 for 17 in his career off K-Rod, including the postseason.

But Castillo allowed the ball to pop out of his glove as he tried for a routine, one-handed catch on the right field grass. The Yankees ran onto the field as Derek Jeter scored from second and Mark Teixeira from first.

Shocking News: Carrie Prejean Kind of a Bitch

Oh, what a tangled web we weave...when first we leave a big ole electronic trail of evidence showing that we are kind of a huge pain in the ass.
While Carrie Prejean continues to claim she was fired from her position as Miss California USA due to her outspoken politics and position on same-sex marriage, a series of email exchanges published by Fox News (fair and balanced!) allegedly show an increasingly hostile Prejean corresponding with Miss California director Keith Lewis, and giving credence to pageant officials' claims that she was disrespectful and uncooperative. Wrote Prejean to Lewis:
“I expect you to be forwarding me ALL email requests and interview requests to me. I know how you are and it’s not right if you are selecting things for me. Thanks for your cooperation. And fyi I am a presenter of medals at the special olympics in a few weeks for the summer games. So now u know I am doing this and I expect your full support. Also I was asked to fill in for a dj on a local radio show.. Ill be reading from a show biz script monday. I am doing this.”
When Lewis reiterates politely that she needs to go through proper protoctol and provide details so that events can be placed on a master calendar, Prejean responded:
“You do not cooperate with me, and you pick and chose the things YOU want me to do. That is not happening anymore. Stop speaking for me. I have MY own voice. What are u gonna do fire me for volunteering for the special olympics hahaha ur crazy No I am doing this appearance. You do not need details. Its for the SPECIAL OLYMPICS!!! You just need to know I will be doing it alright."
Honestly, she sounds like pretty much any 22-year-old (or perhaps tween) chafing at the rules and requirements of big, bossy grown-ups. But memo to Carrie: You're a pageant queen.
Under Donald Trump. Not Che Guevara in a bikini, attempting to overthrow a hostile government through sheer force of will and some great separates from Bebe.
Maybe I'm being too hard on her, Popwatchers, but doesn't it seem that Prejean should have been more aware of the job requirements before accepting the crown?
Or will the new spokeswoman for opposite employment not be down for long? Maybe getting fired -- and its attendant publicity blitz -- is what she hoped for all along?

A socialized health care system for United States

If you have good health insurance, you may or may not believe that the United States' health care system needs help or a complete overhaul. If you don't have health insurance, or have poor coverage, you probably think the system could use some work.

The website Freeourhealthcarenow hints that President Obama and Congress are leaning toward a socialized health care system as part of health care reform. According to the site, more government involvement in health care means less choice for the consumers and limited access to treatment. The site lists Canada and Britain as examples of how not to run a health care system, but doesn't say exactly what is undesirable about these two country's programs. A better approach might be to ask citizens of Canada and Britain whether they feel their health care system meets their needs.

Jon Voight Mocks Barack Obama

Actor Jon Voight speaking at the Republican Senate-House Fundraising Dinner on June 8th.

Made his opinions on Barack Obama and his policies very clear,

Jon Voight, who hosted the dinner, delivered a particularly harsh rebuke to Obama, saying he was "embarrassed" by the president and that Obama's leadership would cause the "downfall" of the country.

One quote that stands out in everyone's minds is when Jon mocked Obama for trying to make the world's leaders swing each other in a fairy tale playground.

"We are becoming a weak nation," he said, calling Obama a "false prophet" and his administration the "Obama oppression."

Republican leaders who spoke afterward praised his comments. "You're great. Come back any time," Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said. Gingrich called Voight's comments a rallying cry until the next elections in 2010.

Fourteen-year-old chef Greg Grossman

Fourteen-year-old chef Greg Grossman has signed a production deal to develop and star in his own reality TV show.

At an age when most junior high school kids are just venturing beyond grilled cheese, Grossman is dabbling in dehydrated anchovy salt, Tawny Port jam, sake foam and yogurt ice cream with black sesame.

His parents say they knew he was really something when he presented them with pan-seared sea scallops under a balsamic vinegar glaze with a wild-mushroom medley at the ripe old age of 10.

Greg Grossman was raised in East Hampton, N.Y., and started catering when he was 11 years old.

David Carradine's Death

Local Bangkok Newspaper Thairath, published a photo in it's Saturday, 6 June edition claiming it's from David Carradine's hotel room. The photo shows the nude body of a man hanging by the hands. The majority of the body in the photo is censored out. The photo is as it appears in the daily edition and printed by Thairath. http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-267633

The photo is reported to show Carradine with his hands tied in front of him, hanging from the support bar in a closet.
He has tattoos on the lower half of his nude body.

Carradine was Found hanging in his luxury hotel room in Bangkok, Thailand. It was also said that Carradine was in Bangkok looking for more 'meaning to life.' His death was at first called a suicide. However, Thai police are now calling it an accidental suffocation after they found a rope tied around Carradine's genitals:

There is speculation that the 72-year-old actor may have been engaged in a dangerous form of sex play known as auto-erotic asphyxiation - temporarily cutting off the supply of oxygen to the brain to heighten the effects of a sexual climax.
